Celebrity Perfume Comment
In 1958 Audrey Hepburn revolutionized the perfume industry when she agreed to be the face of "L'Interdit", the Givenchy scent personally created for her. She soon became the ultimate "it girl" and a leader in style and beauty. Ever since, celebrity and fragrance promotion have gone hand in hand.
These days there is a new leader in grace and style. Angelina Jolie has stepped as smoothly into Hepburn's old role as a trend leader in the cosmetics and clothing industry, as she did into her old role as UNICEF Ambassador. Be it gliding on the red carpet, lending aid to needy children, or grabbing headlines, both women were created with special power.
So it takes a special fragrance to really capture the hearts of women like these. Similar to Hepburn's lifetime use of "L'Interdit" (which is still sold) and Givenchy products , Jolie has long been linked with creations from "Carolina Herrera". Except it's not the perfume she uses, but rather "Herrera for Men" launched in 1991. The cologne is a smooth blend of spice and citrus, with touches of fresh flowers, musk and exotic woods. Its light, crisp bouquet is refreshing and never over-powers. It's one of the classics in the ever expanding Herrera line.
Like most of us, Jolie has more than just one favorite. She also wears " Bulgari Black", released in 1998 by Bulgari , it's a unisex aroma with an earthy appeal. Moss, smoky woods and rich tea combine to create a subtle effect that is perfectly natural on anyone. It has the added appeal of smelling the same throughout the day.
In a time when intensely sweet fragrances are one the rise, like the toasted marshmallow and floral "M" by Mariah Carey - or - the cotton candy and star fruit "Darling" by Kylie Minogue , it's good to know there are still some old sensual scents, and celebrities, that can be counted on.
